The Central Florida Chapter has a long history representing building officials and advocating strong building codes. As the first chapter of the legacy code development body, Southern Building Code Conference International (SBCCI), our members helped develop the profession that we work in today. Now, as a chapter of the International Code Council (ICC), we continue to lead the way to building safety through the development of International Building Code family of codes used as a foundation for the Florida building Code.
Our geographic region is defined by government jurisdictions, (cities, counties, school boards, colleges and universities) in Orange, Seminole, Lake, Polk and Osceola counties, however, we also have participation from jurisdictions in the neighboring counties of Marion, Sumter, Brevard and Volusia.
Our active members have traditionally taken on a leadership role at the state level and in the code development process. Three Building Officials from the Central Florida chapter currently serve as members of the Florida Building Commission.
