BOAF BY LAWS COMMITTEE
Scope
The scopeof the By Laws Committee shall include the bylaws, constitution and any otherrules of the Association. The scope shall also include the professional code ofethics and mission statement of the Association.
Purpose
The purposeof the Committee is to review the bylaws, constitution and rules along with theprofessional code of ethics and mission statement of the Association, and makeany recommendations it deems appropriate to the Board of Directors that willenhance and improve the building code enforcement profession and theAssociation
Objectives
TheCommittee shall strive to accomplish those objectives established by thePresident and/or Chairperson that are endorsed by the Board of Directors.During the 2010/2011 term, those objectives are as follows:
· Update the Bylaws with the changes approved by the membershipat the Annual Business Meeting on June 7, 2010.
· Review, revise and update the by-laws and constitution aswell as the code of ethics and mission statement to reflect current conduct andpractice of the Association.
· Amend standing committee list to include newly createdcommittees.
· Update a model set of Chapter by-laws as needed for adoptionby local Chapters.
Members
There shall be a minimum of 4members who shall be appointed by the President from various geographicalregions of the State, whenever possible. The President shall serve as an ad-hocmember. The President shall appoint a Chairperson from amongst the group whoshall preside over the deliberations of the committee and represent theCommittee before the Board of Directors. The Committee shall also elect aVice-Chairperson who shall serve in the same capacity in the absence of theChairperson.
Voting
Each membershall have the right to cast one vote on any decision made by the Committee.The Committee may ballot their vote by telephone, mail or email at thediscretion of the Chairperson. A quorum is established with 3 members castingtheir vote and a simple majority shall determine the will of the Committee.
Procedure
Basic Robert's Rules of Order shall govern the conduct and proceedings of the Committee.
