2010/2011
Scope
The scope of the Awards Committee shall include the review of the nominations provided to the Committee for the “Building Official of the Year”, the “Robert K. Becker Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award” and the “Half Vast Award”.
Purpose
The purpose of the Committee is to develop all necessary policies, procedures, and strategies to select a deserving recipient of: Building Official of the Year, Robert K. Becker Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award and the Half Vast Award.
Objectives
The Committee shall strive to accomplish those objectives established by the President and/or Chairperson that are endorsed by the Board of Directors. During the 2010/2011 term, those objectives are as follows:
Select a deserving recipient of the “Building Official of the Year” award – chosen from the current list of Chapter “Building Officials of the Year” or those other nominations given to the committee chair prior to the Annual Conference.
Select a deserving recipient if any, for the “Robert K. Becker Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award” – for years of loyal and dedicated service and contribution to the code enforcement profession and the Association.
Review all ballots presented at the Annual Conference for the “Half Vast Award” and select one or more persons in the Association and publicly recognize such person or persons for persistent and fastidious service to the Association.
- The Half Vast Award recipient shall be determined by ballot of the membership.
- The ballots shall be counted at the direction of the President.
- Presentation of the Half Vast Award shall be made at the annual meeting of the Association.
Members
There shall be a minimum of 5 members who shall be appointed by the President. A past President, a past recipient of each of the awards (if available) and additional members as appointed by the President. The President shall appoint a Chairperson from amongst the group who shall preside over the deliberations of the committee. The Committee shall also elect a Vice-Chairperson who shall serve in the same capacity in the absence of the Chairperson.
Voting
Each member shall have the right to cast one vote on any decision made by the Committee. The Committee may ballot their vote by telephone, mail or email at the discretion of the Chairperson. A quorum is established with 3 members casting their vote and a simple majority shall determine the will of the Committee.
Procedure
Basic Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern the conduct and proceedings of the Committee
