About the Seminar...

The BOAF Florida Building Code Seminar Program provides 14 hours of approved continuing education designed to meet each licensee’s state-mandated licensing education requirements. (total of 14 hrs. for contractors and code officials.) Whether you are a code official or contractor, attending one of BOAF’s two-day seminar programs will satisfy some or all of your state-mandated training and continuing education requirements for licensure. If you are a Florida License Architect the certificates from ICC will be provided with an AIA approval number. If you are a Florida License Engineer an ICC certificates with their State Provider number will be provided.

Day 1 Registration: 7:30 – 8:00am

Course: Most Found Code Violations

Description: Based on the 2004 FBC, this course examines the most commonly

found code violations. This course is organized into three primary sections, including building planning, inspections and fire safety.

Course: 2007 Workers Compensation

Description: This course is designed to familiarize participants with Federal and
State of Florida Workers’ Compensation laws. Topics include workers and employers
rights, coverage limits, liability, the role of the building department, workplace safety and criminal penalties.

Course: 2007 Florida Job Site Safety

Description: It is the intent of this course to familiarize participants with construction
job site safety concepts and practices. OSHA requirements and responsibilities
as well as specific hazards and injury prevention techniques are addressed.

Description: This course addresses the 2006 Supplement, and the proposed changes identified in the supplement. Building, Residential, Mechanical, Plumbing and Existing Building provisions are discussed.

Course: 2004 FBC Accessibility and Usability (AOA)

Description: Based on the 2004 FBC, this course is designed to provide an examination
of the accessibility provisions of the 2004 FBC, Chapter 11. It introduces the topics of plan review and inspection for construction allowing the physically challenged, the visually impaired and the hearing impaired to use building of all types.

Course: 2007 Florida Laws and Rules (Laws and Rules)

Description: This course explains the laws and rules of the 2004 Florida Building
Code and various Florida Statutes. The intent and purpose, definitions, key issues
and civil rights. Guidelines and suggestions for general code enforcement practices
are discussed.

Credit: 3 Hours
Description: Based on the 2004 Florida Building Code, this course is designed to
provide foundational knowledge of Chapters 5, 6 & 7, including general building height and area, construction types and fire resistant construction.


* Registrant must attend the entire classroom session (AM and/or PM)
in order to receive C.E. credit.
